Parent Involvement

We realise that many parents work these days and are busy people, but the school provides so many opportunities for our children which rely on an enormous volume of volunteer support.

If you would like to get more involved in the school and its community there are lots of areas that you can help out. It all depends on what your interest and expertise is - no experience is necessary. The school always welcomes volunteers to help in:

  • The Uniform Shop
  • Kaurna Garden
  • Library Resource Centre
  • Listening to reading
  • The Learning Assistance Program
  • Help in your child’s classroom.

If you find that you have time to spare, just ask your class teachers for any small jobs that they may have. Another good way of getting involved and meeting more people is to come along to a PC Meeting or to one of the schools social events - you are guaranteed to enjoy yourself.

Child Protection Guidelines have been developed and all volunteers who work with children are required to undergo a Police Check and OHS&W training. We are continually reviewing the structure and learning programs at our school to ensure every child, parent visitor and staff member at St Francis Xavier’s feels welcome and safe. Police Clearance forms and Volunteer Registration forms are available from the School Office.

  • Class Reps - Each Class has one or two parents who liaise with the teacher to help with class events. The parent rep helps to organize social events for the parents to get to know each other.
  • PC ‘Parent Community’ Meetings - Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. Meeting times and dates are advertised through the school newsletter.
